Today I want to talk with you about Blessings. My text will be Proverb 28:20
A faithful man will abound with blessings,
But he who makes haste to be rich will not go unpunished.
Throughout Scripture -as here- we are told that the faithful are the ones who are blest. It is not the productive, or the smart, or the affluent, or the educated or the able bodied.
For faithfulness is centered in our saving relationship with Jesus Christ. and while that-out of necessity,-will bring forth good works, faithfulness can only originate from Who Jesus is and What he did for us.
And in our consumer driven culture this is hard concept to wrap our minds around; yet we would be wise to heed the warning that follows here; namely that those who are bent on making a quick buck will not find favor with God.
Now, making a living is not a bad thing, but when this consumes us, we loose sight of God’s call to faithful living.
So while you, my friend, may, indeed, be faithful in honoring your spouse and your family, and your ministry, and in many other things, how faith filled are you in your relationship to God Almighty?
