“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
REPENTANCE is so much more than merely feeling sorry for past mistakes; it is a radical summons to a complete transformation of one’s mind and direction.
And…it begins at recognizing that the kingdom of heaven is not some high ideal or some future concept, but, rather it is a present day reality that God is here. NOW. And, such awareness carves out in us a desire for an eternity-in-view perspective on how we go about each day.
So, repentance provides a bridge between our internal conviction on matters of the heart -with how we are thinking about things- then, moving us to live out those convictions
Thus, repentance only happens when we turn to God in Christ who creates this desire and urgency and the ability to turn from our vices and align ourselves with a kingdom defined by grace, justice, and mercy.
