By this they will know that you are my disciples by the way you love one another

John 13.35

How well do WE love those who we are uncomfortable with? And, yet, as Christians we are called love one another. But, without Christ, this is only a lofty ideal, that will stress us out as we endeavor to do it.

I clearly recall the day that I became immediately uncomfortable when a man, who smelled of alcohol, walked into our church.  While I knew that I ought to love him, my reaction was to distance myself.

If it were not for my pastors who took him, helping him to find purpose, I would not have seen God’s love, nor would I have come to the place of actually loving him, and wanting to be a part of his life.

Christ made that difference.  He used my pastors to model his love.

Who in your life has helped you love like Christ?
