Proverbs 29:25

Good Morning, this is Michael De Rosa and today let’s look at Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.

God is alerting us to the reality that being swayed by other people’s opinions creates a lot of difficulties for us; while being devoted to God alone yields for us safety and protection.

When we attempt to please others we are unconsciously giving them permission to control our lives so that what we do and say will not inconvenience them.

And our good natured intentions of pleasing others is nothing less than being fearful of their disapproval.

And that is a snare, for it robs us from serving our Lord with our whole heart and soul and mind and strength for there is within us a divided loyalty that is seen as we adopt the attitude of,  “I will serve God if it is OK with you.”

The only way to break free of this fear is trust in Him, seeking His approval for our actions first and foremost.

What does God need to do in your life right now to move you to trust in Him more?
